A quote I read once said “You can know a person by the kind of desk he keeps.” Wow, if that is true, I’m probably a person you wouldn’t want to know. At least not recently as my desk sunk into the depths of despair under what seemed to be an unending source of clutter. Between working 22 hours a week from my home, being a busy mom to three school age sons, being a pastor’s wife, volunteering at school, church and for the local Suzuki music program, and some apparently unresolved hoarding tendencies which were fed by the fact that this is the first time in 6 years I have lived in one place for more than 2 years, I had a lot of “stuff” crammed into my wonderful office, aka home away from home in my home!
Take a look at the “before” pictures of my desk
and my closet
So you can understand why I decided a few weeks ago that it was time for a CLEAN SWEEP. Patterned after one of my favorite TV shows with that title, I set about taking all the clutter out of my office. Here’s what it looked like when I was done.
But where did it all go? My organization area was my living and dining room
and boy was I surprised when I filled up those two rooms with the stuff from my office.
Just packing materials (I love bubble wrap!!) …
And this is just wrapping paper, and ribbon, and bows, and tissue paper, and gift bags …
I’m happy to say that I purged a ton and organized the rest and now my desk looks like this
and my closet looks like this
I wonder how long it will last? 😀
