Happy 4th of July everyone!! May Old Glory wave long and proud over our great nation!
I found some fun links related to the 4th of July … crafts and party ideas and videos and music and food, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
Often times I get the question – “How do you remember all of these web sites?” and the short answer is, I don’t, but Diigo (pronounced dee-go) does. I use the free social bookmarking tool via a simple button in my Google Chrome browser, and whenever I surf to a site I think is worth noting, I easily tag it with search terms and save it. Then all my favorite links are saved “in the cloud” and accessible from anywhere I have an Internet connection. Pretty sweet substitute brain! Check out this overview video if you are new to Diigo and want to learn more (then create your own free account at Diigo.com) –
Recently I began using one of Diigo’s features, Lists, to group and organize related links for easy sharing. I can make a list of links on any topic so today I made one with links about the 4th of July. Creating and adding items and organizing the list was easy.
From my Diigo Library sidebar, I scrolled down to the My List area and clicked the + Create new list link at the bottom of that section of the sidebar.
- I gave the list a title and filled in some other required info about the list, pushed the magic button and in a matter of mere seconds, I was a happy Diigo List owner.
- Next I added a whole bunch of 4th of July related links that I didn’t want to loose. The process of adding links is easy and similar in all of the browsers (my screen shots are from Google Chrome browser).
- Click the Diigo browser button
- Click the Bookmark button
- Add Description and Tags
- Select the desired List
- Save Bookmark
- My list grew quickly so one last step was to organize it a bit so that when I shared it with you it would make sense. To help with the organization, I added section titles with the Add Section button.
- Once I had my sections in place, hovering over the left side of any list item brought up a cursor for moving the item to the desired section.
I hope you enjoy the 4th of July treats! And I hope you give your brain some independence on this holiday and create a Diigo list of your own!!
